Configure User
End users are configured or provisioned based on the services they have access to. The following articles provide detailed guidance on how users are set up for specific services:
Unlike individual user configurations listed above, the Chat App is configured for the whole enterprise rather than being set up for specific users.
Bulk Configure or Update Users
End users are configured or provisioned based on the services available to them. The following articles offer detailed guidance on bulk user setup for specific services:
Disable and Delete Users
Disabling a user pauses that user's services without removing them from ConnecttoTeams. To remove a user permanently, disable the user first, then delete them.
Note: Deleting a user is not finalized until you run Sync Teams Users. A Teams Administrator or Global Administrator can run it; a Service Provider can also run it if the enterprise has consented to "Allow Management by Service Provider.”
Deleting a PBX User or a CallApp User
Complete these steps from the Users page (discussed here.).
In the Users table, open the action menu for the user and select Disable User.
Click Advanced Search, then apply the Disabled Users filter.
Locate the user, open the action menu, and select Delete User.
Run Sync Teams Users to finalize the deletion (see User Sync Procedure below).
Deleting a Trunk User
Complete these steps from the Trunk Users page (discussed here).
In the Trunk Users table, open the action menu for the user and select Disable User.
Click Advanced Search, then apply the Disabled Users filter.
Locate the user, open the action menu, and select Delete User.
Run Sync Teams Users to finalize the deletion (see User Sync Procedure below).
Deleting an SMS User
An SMS User is a Teams User with the SMS service enabled. You can disable an SMS User, but there is no delete function for SMS Users. To disable SMS user, see Manage SMS Users : Disable User, Add or Remove Phone Numbers.
User Sync Procedure
To finalize deleted users, click Sync Teams Users in the Enterprise Dashboard page. This can be run by an Enterprise Admin (either Teams Administrator or Global Administrator) or by a Service Provider if the enterprise has consented to "Allow Management by Service Provider."
Note: Manual synchronization is required for all user provisioning and deprovisioning actions.
In March 2026, the automatic user synchronization previously triggered by Enterprise Administrator login was removed to prevent unintended user deletions resulting from license changes or other updates in Microsoft Entra ID.
Note to the service provider
Disabling a user reduces SMS license used count in Billing Summary report.
