Sending SMS to Multiple Recipients
End Users are now able to send SMS/MMS to several recipients via the SMS app in Teams.
Instructions
Open the SMS App
Select the desired SMS CallerID from the dropdown menu. If there is only one number enabled for the user then this list will only have one option.
Click "New Conversation" and enter multiple recipients by typing their phone numbers or contact names then pressing Enter key after each number or pasting them into the recipient input box. Type your message in the message box and click send icon.
SMS Broadcast vs Group Texting
When there are multiple recipients, you could possibly be given an option to send it as a group text if:
(1) Your sender phone number supports group texting which is either a Bandwidth number or an Inteliquent number.(2) That your enterprise is enabled for Group Texting. If you want this option turned on, reach out to your Service Provider.
If the above conditions are not met, your text will be sent as broadcast which means the message will be sent as SMS to each recipient individually.
Separators
When pasting, the phone numbers may be separated by the following characters:
comma (,) semi-colon ( ; ) colon ( : ) and carrier return (Enter key)
Number Format Rules
When pasting numbers, the numbers will be cleaned up and reformatted this way:
Extra characters like +, dash, parenthesis and space will be auto-cleaned up.
Normalized to an 11-digit phone number applicable to US and Canada and US Territories.
Mal-formatted numbers will be ignored and not copied to the recipient list.
A maximum of 10 numbers is allowed into the recipient input box.
