DNS - SRV

From release 1.4.5 forward, the ConnecttoTeams Connector supports DNS SRV record lookup when routing SIP traffic to a PBX.  This option is an alternative to the HOST method where you specify the SIP Proxy FQDN and Port explicitly.

Using DNS SRV enables

  • a more fault-tolerant SIP environment if you have multiple prioritized / weighted registration servers.

  • a simpler and more flexible configuration where server and port selection are controlled by your network engineers without requiring configuration changes in the ConnecttoTeams Portals.

We support either UDP (_sip._udp.your.domain) or TCP (_sip._tcp.your.domain) or TLS (_sip._tls.your.domain) SRV records, depending on the transport you select in the PBX configuration settings.   NOTE:  if you select the hybrid UDP/TCP transport with SRV, you will need to have SRV records for both UDP and TCP.

If your SIP platform is already using DNS SRV lookup for your SIP domain, this configuration change is simple to make.

ConnecttoTeams load balances based on the destination of the REGISTER request which requires different PBX servers to maintain 'state' information.  We recommend primary with failover use of SRV records.

Manage DNS-SRV in the ConnecttoTeams provisioning portal in PBX Settings Add or Edit.
